Are you experiencing frustration, a depressed mood, anxiety? Are you involved in a difficult relationship or work situation? Have you lost someone close to you? If so, you could benefit from individual therapy. You do not have to come to therapy with someone else in order to experience benefits.
The title of Marriage and Family Therapist is a bit misleading. I am trained to work with individuals as well as couples and families. In fact, the effectiveness of Marriage and Family Therapy has been established in treating issues such as depression, anxiety, chronic illness, substance abuse, and adolescent challenges.
When working with individuals, I am interested in understanding you in context of your other relationships even if no one else comes with you to the sessions. You do not live apart from the influences of other systems, including your physical health, past experiences, values, family and other close relationships, spiritual beliefs, etc. This information best helps me get to know your unique situation and strengths. It can also effectively tailor my approach to match what you want to achieve from the sessions.
In our first session, we will go through a thorough evaluation. This gives me an opportunity to understand you and your concerns. It also provides you an opportunity to assess whether or not this is a good fit for you. Feeling comfortable with your therapist is a crucial component for success. If your concerns fall within my areas of expertise and the professional relationship feels comfortable, we will begin to develop an action plan that includes your specific goals and timelines for completion.
I work with a variety of personal concerns, such as:
- Relationship conflict
- Infidelity
- Parenting
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Grief and Loss
- Work stress
- Premarital Education
I welcome the opportunity to visit with you about your current concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me to ask questions or schedule an appointment. Feeling content and fulfilled is an achievable goal!
